Why is it automatically benefit the "other side" not to forgive?
That is an entirely subjective thing as Christians do believe that not kicking the **** out of someone or always getting a painful revenge benefits them. But thats another matter altogether, all I can say is in the obvious sense it dosent always benefit someone because it can escalate!

No, 2 wrongs do not make a right. Revenge is immature and not the best option.

2 wrongs make for bad morals & pettiness.
Every heard of 'what goes around, comes around', or even, 'divine justice'.
If you go down the 'eye for an eye' and 'a tooth for a tooth' path, you won't be able to see what you can't even eat!
