M= month
Y= year

So if there are 2 "ms" you enter the month using 2 digits, as in 01 for January, 12 for December.
If there are 4 "ys" you enter the year using 4 digits, as in 2006 or 2009.

mm means the 2 digit day and yyyy means the year as in 2006
