Can someone tell me what happens to your blood when you are dehydrated. Someone told me that the blood becomes thicker and moves through the body more slowly. Is this true?

Yes, it is true. That is why if you pinch your skin and it stays puckered for a minute your body is dehydrated.

Tests include:
Blood chemistries (to check electrolytes, especially sodium, potassium, and bicarbonate levels)
Urine specific gravity (a high specific gravity indicates significant dehydration)
BUN (blood urea nitrogen -- may be elevated with dehydration)
Creatinine (may be elevated with dehydration)
Complete Blood Count (CBC) to look for signs of concentrated blood
Other tests may be done to determine the specific cause of the dehydration (for example, a blood sugar to check for diabetes).

As i studied...the blood composed of water with cellular components in it and solutes dissolved in it.so u can imagine that if the person is dehydrated then the water will be reduce and other components become more concentrated which make the blood more viscous...

It is true, although if you're thinking of a syrup or jelly-like state, not. Your brain will shut down long before you get there.
