Frogs are not equiped with a bending torso or limbs like other animals, so its tongue is the only way for it to reach its food. It is long and sticky, perfect for picking up small insects sitting near them, and quick enough to catch the insects before the escape. Insects are quick and small, making their tongue to be a required hunting tool, unlike other amphibians such as the lizard who can run after their prey or the snake who can chase and dart at what they are going to eat. Frogs need their tongue because they are neither fast nor agile, otherwise they would starve!

Biological evolution has made the frogs tongue longer to better suit its environment, as well as its eating habits (flies fly, so the tongue must reach them)
