you can not keep the $$$ if you are not replacing the roof. it is called insurance fraud. the real problem w/ hail damage and asphalt shingles is that the hail "bruises" the shingles causing the granules to fall off. the mat of the shingles does not provide UV protection from the sun and will break down quickly. if you have leaks in the future and interior damage your insurance company will not cover it. if the adjuster was already out a claim has been filed, there is no backing out of that now. get a new roof.

Your not obligated to turn in the claim for a roof. Most adjusters get called because the customer has a claim. Since your adjuster has approved your need for a roof, you can take the money and hold it until you need it, but they likely would not cover any additional damages, nor would they pay you the difference years later when prices have escalated.
If I were you I would not activate the claim. But your insurance co. is telling your you are at risk buy not doing so. Then you have to decide is it really a risk you want to take or just pass on the claim until you feel you really need a roof.

Insurance organizations are overlaying claims for hail broken roofs. Once hail hits the roof, the protecting granules are knocked off on the factor ofHail Damage strike, and those broken locations are the resources of roof leaks someday.Indeed a best paid for through your coverage company will have to be the excellent; distinctive, announced adequately, freed from releases, and with a assurance from a foreman you realize will probably be there for you later directly to quite appreciate the assurance.

The insurance adjuster would not approve it unless it was needed, and once you have a leak, there may be more damage and more insurance money! You wouldn't want that now would you ... just be a good girl and have the roof replaced nice and sensible like.

If you dont have any leaks, and there is no real damage to the roof I would Save the money. But if there are damage to certain shingles I would have them shingles replaced.
