He sent me a poem he wrote and it sounds a little obsessive to me. What do you think?

cravings

ah yes, that familiar tickle deep in the belly spurring urges.
the ebb and flow as impulse is contained.
pulled back again and again into a controllable state --
a safe place distant from realities unforgivness.
where limbo is as a blank canvas in wait
as emotive sweeps of imagination color this fragile world.
self induced delusions allowed to roam in fanciful folly --
as my cravings of your mouth on mine are satisfied outside
judgement or crime.

I can't imagine why some of you can even begin to think a teenager would, or even could, write in this particular style, unless they were very precocious. He is about 31-32. And no, we are not sexually active. I met him in a professional situation and have talked several times on the phone. I sensed he liked me but, I concluded as Spy said I'm probably so jaded I didn't recognize his romantic and creative approach. Wow I've got to open myself up to something outside this very prosaic mundane society. I'm going for it!!!

I agree with Spy. Sometimes the only way that a human can express desire for someone is by sending them emotions which modern society says are a little strange and wrong. And sometimes unwanted. When really you are looking at someone who is perfectly sane. If he sent you that poem one day back in Shakespeare's era would you have acted the same way?
But just in case bring some mace with you at all times.

First of all forget the Christian biased "G-d" mumbo-jumbo posted by Cara ... although I must say Cara does appear intelligent it is a shame that she has an over active g-d module.

Second I am overwhelmed by the lack of romance recognition by you and those, who thus far, have posted. The guy obviously is a romantic person in the highest state of infatuation. Lust is a very natural and human quality and he seems in control as the poem states. My question would be why craving you would be judged or be a crime in his mind? Is he married?

You obviously do not know him very well and so being cautious is a good thing but, by no means close your mind completely because of fear.

It is a beautiful poem and gesture. Cautiously venture into the situation, get to know him and enjoy it if all checks out fine.

To me the sentiments expressed in it are 'normal', in the sense that many people experience them. It may or may not be normal to write a poem about them and send it to the object of your craving.

What is strange is that the poem doesn't speak of relationship, the closest it comes is the purely physical juxtaposition of two pairs of lips. To be more blunt, it sounds like lust rather than love.

And here I would have to question his grip on reality, because lust is not 'outside of judgment or crime'. Lust and the physical fulfillment thereof (and all the intervening steps) are all part of the same root sin, which ultimately has nothing to do with sex and everything to do with greed - which is short for 'idolatry'.

Which means it's a violation of the first (and presumably most important) of the 10 Commandments - 'You shall have no other gods before Me.' Not to mention that since it's all the same sin, it's also a violation of the commandment 'You shall not commit adultery.' It doesn't really matter whether he's 'worshiping' you or his own desires.

So this is a great opportunity for you to ask yourself whether this is the sort of foundation you want for your relationships.

May God guide your thoughts at this time.

Ok it doesnt sound obsessive. If you are over 20 then this is fine but if he is sending these poems to teen girls thats a bit wierd.

Crappy poem though

Doesn't sound obsessive to me. Ask him what he meant when he wrote it. Don't ask like an accusation just ask like you are showing interest in his artistic process.

i think you'd have to deside my his charecter not by the poem. He could go either way by his poem . Either he is very creative or he is sick, I don't know.
