They may be clean; however, when you use a towel it removes not only the remaining water on your body, but many old dead skin cells and oils that are still on your body. Haven't you noticed that a hand towel will become dirty, even after one has washed his hands with soap and water. We are never 100% clean. We always have residual oils and residues on our bodies. That is why we wash bath towels. Also, with time and water, towels can become rancid from the bacteria that we scrub off of our bodies as we dry them.

I always thought of bathing is the process of GETTING clean yet not BEING clean...so I would definitely wash the towels!

Just because the bath towel's start off clean doesn't mean they remain clean. We shower and are clean yet we shower again because we get dirty - items like dust etc get in/on them and they get dirty. Way too long of an answer for your question.

I think that we wash bath towels because it is the thought that someone used them before us. I mean, sure we're clean, but if we're drying of every where, it just may gross a few people out.......

When bath towels dry the water on them becomes stagnant, then it can grow mold if the towel doesn't dry fast enough. We wash towels to get rid of mold spores that might be growing on them.

No we aren't 100% clean. We never could be. They get dead skin cells on them, they are damp, bugs live in the towels too because even though they've been washed, they aren't sterile either.

Have you ever smelt a bath towel after it has been used 3 times? Do it and you will know why.

when u take a bath ur dead skin falls off but not all of it. so when u get out the shower u rub urself clean and rub off a whole lot more dead skin making ur towel even nastier then u think. u should at least change ur towels every 2 days. i only change mine once a week???

When you dry off you are also removing dead skin. Try this: take a towel and dont wash it until you cant stand the smell anymore. It wont take long

Not only can they become moldy, but they collect bacteria almost immediately. It's definitely good to wash you're towels. The nasty smell I could probably handle. The nasty bacteria I cannot!
