If so, wouldn't that make YOU an insurgent?

absolutely. there is an unalienable right to defend your home and country but not to invade somewhere else.

The premise of your question is kind of dumb.

You're assuming that we are in the same position as Iraq. I would not fight back if Iraq were invading to oust a unwelcome dictator intent on furthering an extremist cause.

Saddaam killed for more thousands and thousands and thousands of people than the US military ever harmed. That certainly doesn't make any part of it right. In most cases, I'm a firm believer that war is not the answer, but in this case, I don't think there was any other great answer. If there were, some other country in the world would have stepped up to the plate and laid out their plan. I f the plan were all that great, they would have easily rallied support. That never happend because there was no other plan other than to do nothing and look the other way and hope for the best.

I would fight back if they simply invaded.

I guess everyone would fight back if their country was being invaded and occupied illegally. That would make me an insurgent. However, the Iraqi government and the US government before the war were different. The Iraqi government was oppressive, while the US government was less oppressive and more democratic. Thus, some in Iraq welcome the US invasion, while almost all in US would go against the Iraq invasion, because more citizens in the US like their government than the citizens in Iraq.

However, I wouldn't fight back with violence but with protests unless I really had to (e.g. if they were torturing us). I don't support violence unless it's necessary.

History is written by the victors.

I guess you could say that would make me an insurgent. I have to think, though that Iraqi forces wouldn't be here to overthrow Bush (although there'd be no talk of 'secret' weapons development programs - these are well known), or to install democracy. Perhaps they'd be here to install Al Gore and establish a monarchy.

And certainly they wouldn't come here for oil. Maybe for nice beaches and some Xbox 360's?

I'd probably fight them anyway. No one likes to be conquered.

Anyone will fight for what they believe in, if they have an ounce of conviction in their beliefs. I don't agree with what is happening there... I support the troops because they are ordered to do what they're doing, have no say against it. I don't support the war. Or the president. He has no business being in office, both of his winning elections were decided by corrupt officers at the state level, not by the will of the people. Some would conclude that this gives occasion to an overthrow of our own government...

Yes we would.
There is one BIG flaw in your question 90% to 95% for the people over there want us there and thank our men and women daily. Here is what one man stated "you men from the US you have taken the gun from my head. When Saddam was in power he had a gun to you heads now we can live and be true Iraqis. Come come home with me And have dinner with my family it will be a great honor."

This is stated move and over to our men. Why do we not hear this. I have had many friends over there and many are still there. Why because they know what is right.

Of course, BUT that wouldn't be reversing the roles. We didn't ILLEGALY invade. They break the Cease-Fire agreement of the first Gulf War, we just couldn't get the U.N. to agree to it so we went in on our own.

1. We did not invade illegally, Sadam did not comply with the terms of the cease fire. We had every right to resume hostilities.

2. If the USA had somehow fallen into a dictatorship where our freedoms and rights were stripped from us, any army comming in and free us from Tyranny would be welcome by me, as long as they weren't annexing us as part of their country.

I wouldn't because the war would not be a good thing to advocate, especially since they probably wouldn't have had any reason to invade.

No, I'd go the way of the French.

Of course I would. I wonder if the 2nd amendment would be under so much criticism if that really did happen.
