It continues to baffle me as to why the general public continues to bash Jaguar for being bought out by Ford some nearly 20 years after the fact. Ford also owns one of the most prestigious marks in the world, Aston Martin. I don't see too many people bashing Astons for being "Fords". Not to mention the other makes that Ford owns worldwide such as Saab..etc. What about Chrysler and Mercedes? Didn't Chrysler nearly go belly up in the 80's for producing such a poor product? What about V.W. they own Audi and Audi nearly went under because of an unintended acceleration problem on the 5000 in the 80's. But no one brings up their ancient history. Lets face it. If Ford's association with Jaguar was so tainted then why is that Jaguars continue to be produced and sold the world over. Because people love them and the ones that don't own one hate on it because secretly they want one. If you want to know how reliable a Jaguar XK is then go to the source, go to the people that actually own one. Not a bunch of haters that have never had one or a prima donna that owns one and never has actually worked on it preferring instead to take it back to the dealer and get gouged (as all dealers do....not just Jaguar dealers!). Go to http://www.jag-lovers.org/ and talk to actual owners. See what they think. If after talking to them you still aren't convinced then you probably didn't need an XK in the first place. Good luck and enjoy that Jag!

Jaguars, like all British cars are known for maintenance issues. Even though there owned by Ford now... at least they were last I checked... I don't think that says much for reliability.

Now... if your ok with maintenance... Don't get a new XK. Go for the old school and you won't mind when its in the shop that much.

I just love the old Xk's
My next restoration will be Black 1956 Xk150 Roadster

I bought my 2013 Jaguar XK with nearly 6,000 miles on it six months ago when it was due for its first service under warranty. I was charged nothing by the dealer? Nothing! Nada! Zip!!! So far I've had "0" problems with it. The previous female owner traded it in (reluctantly I;m told) for a Maserati Ghibli because she got pregnant, and couldn't fit a baby seat in the back seat of the Jag. One of the drawbacks of the XK coup I guess.

It scores a 100% on performance, quality, and look, and a 93% on comfort on most review websites. My boss' wife has one, and he wouldn't allow her to have a car that had to go to the shop ever, even under warranty. He says it's great, even better than his Infinite FX45. As far as he talks, it never breaks down or has any problems, and he makes her take it in for routine oil changes check ups and tire maintenance. You have to. If it does breakdown, and it's out of warranty, you're going to pay a pretty penny on parts and labor, so be sure to take it to someone who knows what they're doing and you can trust. Parts have to be shipped from other parts of the country, but often specialized garages have parts on hand for newer models. So repair time can vary, but generally they don'r like to keep their customers waiting.
