No, I mean religious blowhards. Those manner of maggots.

Actually, these folks are 'above' such language, so it would serve to set me apart from them.

Yes, I was first inclined to go for "Vipers" like Jesus did, but lately, maggots seems more appropriate =D

Firstly, to Chris S. -- sorry, you're dead wrong. Putting the qualifier "in my opinion" is not necessary. Further, in situations where it might be necessary, it is not a sure-fire way to avoid suit.

That having been said, calling someone a maggot is just that -- calling someone a name. That is constitutionally protected. There is no need to put a disclaimer in your opinion because everyone knows that you are not intimating that the person you insult is in fact a maggot. It is physically impossible for a human being to be a maggot. Therefore, everyone knows that this is just an insult. That, by definition, is not defamatory.

So, go right ahead on the name calling.

Careful about pictures, though. If you post without permission, that could open a different set of problems.

I don't know. I'm not a lawyer.

I do believe though, that it would imply pretty much the same thing about your personality and ethics as you are trying to imply about theirs. But that's just from my perspective.

I also find it humerous that a person with a "religious" handle wants to do such a thing publicly. But I also find it fitting. I'm sure you asked yourself WWJD on that one!

And "blowhards" from which religion specifically or just from any religion?

It's not very ethical to quantify people in a group like that...
It would be legal if you added "in my opinion" and had more of an argument behind it. Just classifying people with no reason given will give the press alot of room to really tear into you.

Yes. Calling someone a name like "maggot" is not considered defamation of character. you are free to call them maggots all you like.
