Depends on the card.
Lottery Drawing Basic $1 goes up to 90mil minimum is 400k (1:72 to the sixth probability of winning)
Lottery Drawing Mega Millions $2 - $5 goes to 500 mil minimum 5 mil(1:100000000000000000000 probability of winning)
Scratch n Win card $1 - $50 do not get, same chance of winning on 50 dollar card as one dollar lotto cards, but pay just over a mil.

For the big payoffs, the odds are so long, it shouldn't make any difference. One would hope that the two dollar ticket might offer more of the smaller payoffs.

only for the cash pay out amount ie. a 1.00 ticket may pay 1000.00 dollars and a 5.00 ticket may pay a 100,000.00 dollars, that is for course if you manage to beat the odds !
