Is this causing you real finantial problems? i mean, do you have some other thing to use your money? if not, i don't think you have a problem.

Maybe you just need to take of your closets the clothes that you don't use anymore, maybe you migth want to donate some of those clothes to people who really needs it, or even make a sale, and you will gain some money to buy something else!

Anyway, if you think it's the time to invest that money in something more usefull, then a way is to focus on what you want to buy, or to invest in. Maybe you want to save for some course you want to take, or to improve your car, or to redecorate your room, or even your house for you and your family.

If you have a goal, you can even go shopping with some friend, but you migth be abble to stop your self, thinking of what you will get if you don't buy that chothes you don't really need.

Anyway, if you can spend in your self now, do it, since at the moment you get marry, or you have kids, or you buy a house, you will always have expenses, and then you won't be abble to buy a lot of clothes and shoes as you do it now! enjoy it!!!!

Remind yourself that the store has lots of the same item in stock...It will still be there in a few days, if you really still need to get it later. Then, in a few days, if you still really want it, go back and get it. At least you're not shopping entirely on impulse.

Also, since you don't have room for everything, take a weekend and pick thru everything. Get rid of anything you haven't worn in a year, or that is a style that's no longer applicable.

Then, start a new process of removing an item for each new one you bring home. If you know before you shop that something will have to go out in order for the new thing to go in, you might be a little more cautious when making selections. When you have to get rid of something, bring it to an organization where you'll feel good about it being used - like a women's work-re-entry program, or to foster families in your area who have kids around your age or size.

Good luck!

You can't stop something like this cold turkey. It takes times. When you get your paycheck figure out your bills and everything. When you have those paid off look to see what you have left. I would put everything in savings except maybe $30 (up to you, ask your mom for help as well) for the whole two weeks until your next paycheck. That way you can only buy with what cash you have. If you have a debit card give it to your mom. Only use cash to buy things and if you don't have it then you can't buy it. Once you get used to it you'll be able to put more into savings each time and lowering the amount you take out. It's a hard habit to break, but with discipline it can be done.

Go to the store, and shop like You would normally do. Get the rush out of all the cool clothes that You like. Shop as long as You want. Pick out everything You like, and then some. Then as You are leaving, leave the basket, and walk out the door. You get the rush of shopping, without the expense. Then go to the next store, and do the same thing. After a while, after leaving everything behind, You will be happy with just purchasing one or two items, from time to time. Good Luck

I think it's good that you can afford to buy clothes, you work hard enough, it's your money and as long as your bills are paid, I don't see what the problem is, as long as you do your own laundry and sewing etc. If you feel as though you've got too many clothes why not sell some? You could give some to your local charity shop (if you have those where you are). The other thing you should look into is buying a bigger wardrobe!

Hi. remember that wanting to buy and Needing to buy is 2 different things. You dont need to buy but you want to buy. Simple solution, dont go to the shops ( i know its easier saidf then done) and spend that same time doing something else. You work to hard (3 jobs) to go blow it away. If you really cant stop then buy a few but have mum or you yourself take it back the same week. Find yourself a boyfriends and stay in bed the time you spend shopping. What would you rather do shop or stay in bed............what I am saying is get a new hobbie. Always remember that each BAD habit needs to be replace with another (1 or 2 good habit) before you can break that bad habit..........Go for it. I have faith in you, NOW the QUESTION IS, do you have faith in yourself...........to break the habit......................

Simple, learn some discipline. I mean, I guess it sounds easier than it is, but once you start making real money, your family won't be able to afford to eat. And there are things on a higher level like cars, and whatnot, you really need to fix this problem. It isn't that hard, if you can't go into the store without buying stuff, don't go into the store.

Sounds like a shopping addiction, but not a serious one. Does this habit put you in serious financial jeopardy? Just the consequences of that should be enough to deter you. If not, seek professional help. Also, I try to follow this rule: you should wear it at least one time for every dollar you spend on it. For example: if you are going to spend $50 on something, will you wear it 50 times? If the answer is no, it's most likely not worth it.

From all the answers I saw below, I never once saw an answer to give you something to look forward to.

How about saving money? Do you have a car? would you like a better one? Why not save all this money and give it as a down payment for a car you really want? If you already have it, Wouldn't you like going on Vacation? How about saving money to go to different places? Make a list of places you wanna visit, and save money for your trips. You could go to New York, (plenty of shopping there) Hawaii, London, Paris, Italy..... you name it! the sky's the limit!

I don't have any tips, but I will say this: if the main thing in your life is buying clothes, that's kinda shallow. We Americans are so wrapped up in our consumerist culture ("Buy more! Buy more!" say the advertisers and the celebrities), it's ridiculous. Just remember that maybe you want to do somehting more in your life and have a higher purpose than just buying clothes.
