I have a Chevy Lumina Euro. It is roomy, cushy, comfortable, huge trunk, 4 doors and it was rated about 4 years ago in Motor Trend Magazine as one of the safest cars for young drivers. Mine has a 3.1 litre 6 cylinder so it really gets up and goes when I put my foot into it and it is good on gas. Always keep your auto tuned up at least twice peryear, then your gas mileage will stay low. Try not to put your foot into it and it will be great on gas too. Hope this helps. I have had mine since 1992 and it is an awesome car. Power everything, including the seats. I love that part 'cause I'm kinda' short. LOL!

A big car is going to get lousy gas mileage, just because bigger means heavier. Since you're tired of a small car, you might consider something mid-sized instead of large. The Camry Hybrid and the Accord hybrid would give you something bigger than your current Civic and also be relatively easy on the gas. The Camry would be more fuel efficient (4-cyl) than the Accord (6-cyl), but the Accord would be more heavily discounted, since it's not in high demand. Since the Camry hybrid is new, I doubt that you'd be able to get a discount on it.

1986-1994 Chevy Caprice. 305cid 5.0L V8, 1985-2006 Ford Crown Victoria LTD 302cid 5.0L V8, 281cid 4.6L V8. These are full-sized cars which got at least 23 mpg when driven conservatively. If you want the best mileage out of these cars, get the fuel injected models which uses less fuel than carburetion. The 1990-1994 Caprices had fuel injection, and the 1994-2006 Crown Vics have fuel injection.

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee is great on gas. Buy the v6. It has a lot of power and gives 18 mpg. 0-60 in about 8sec. very fast for SUV. The hemi v8 does about 6.9sec.
