The sound quits on my laptop from time to time. How can I restore it other than by resetting the laptop?

You might want to check the wires to see if youre connected correctly. Your speakers might need to be replaced. Or if its your PC sound thats breaking then you might need to update your sound driver.

Go to control panel then click on systems. Find out what sound card you have. Then go to http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/ and download the update for your sound card and update your driver. Otherwise, you might need to just do a system restore if your sound.dll file is getting corrupted.

There are viruses that attack the sound.dll file and anti-virus thinks sound.dll is a virus and it quarantines it or screws it up by mistake.
