The combustion chamber is the space at the top of the cylinder where the piston compresses gas and air then ignites it with a spark plug, then the exhaust valves open to expel the exploded gasses. On a diesel engine no spark plug is required because the gasses heat up as they are being compressed an ignite without an external spark. The explosion in the combustion chamber pushes the piston down and turns the crankshaft that propels the car.

the combustion chamber is the area at the top of the cylinder, under the valves, at the top of the piston where when the fuel comes into the cylinder thru the valve, and the piston compresses it, and the spark plug ignitesit, the combustion chamber is where the actual "explosion" takes place when the air/fuel mixture is ignited..... if you have ever had the cylinder head off of anengine and seen where the valves open up above the piston when the head is installed, that is the combustion chamber

What precisely do you want to know? General information ? If so, the combustion chamber is where it all happens. It is where the air and fuel enter, are mixed, compressed, is ignited and as a result energy is created which pushes the piston down, which in turn rotates the flywheel, then the gearbox gears, then the drive shaft if rear wheel drive or shafts if front wheel drive and then the differential rotates and finally the road wheels.
