I probably give less of a crap about sports than any straight male in the history of the human race...
I need someone to please tell me what the big deal is with sports -- not playing them, but WATCHING them. People dedicate their lives, leaving their wives veritable widows. They riot when their team wins. They scream out "WE WON!!" -- when, I'm sorry to inform you, THEY won, YOU sat on your butt & watched. I'm not asking why you'd sit and spend 2 hours watching a game. I'm asking why people go so crazy, why people dedicate their lives, get so worked up and emotional. Are people's lives so empty that they have to pin their self-worth on a bunch of guys moving a ball across a field? Or am I just missing the gene that makes you paint your face and leap around like an idiot?

Everyvbodies life needs passion. It makes it more interesting. You claim that you hate sports, but I would hope that there is something else that gets your motor running. Be it theater, museums, fine wines you name it. It makes life more interesting and gives you a reason to bond with your fellow fans. This gives companionship and the feeling of being part of something.

Nobody loves sports as much as I do. But I would hardly say that my self worth is pinned to the team I supports success. I appreciate the genius and talent it takes to play the game, I enjoy the diversion from responsibilities at work and home. And to be quiute honest I really enjoy the action, the competition and the sport itself.

You ask a question of sports fans, so I now ask of you - is your life so empty and devoid of excitement and passion about somehting that you cannot even comprehend why others might feel that way? You may be missing out on experiencing life to the fullest.

Well I will give it my best shot---oops! I mean guess. When people fall in love, the other person is all they can think about. Sports must give them the same euphoria they get when in love. Just think their blood gets pumping, there is excitement about the next game, the endorphines are released and "voila" they are hooked! They stay hooked because everything is one sided. Sports can't talk back, give you the cold shoulder or find someone new. So what can take away their unsatiable appetites for the whoop and holler of the good ole game? Nothing not even losing the game. They got their high all through the game even up to losing the game. Then don't forget the company you enjoy and all the yaking and drinks after the game. Goodness this kind of makes me want to go see a game now, how about you?

I come from a VERY athletic family, my own Nana thought something was wrong with me when I didn't want to play baseball... This brings up a point that my dad made one time, he said WTF do you do when you get home from you boring **** *** job to your boring **** *** life? You sit down and watch TV for a lot of guy this means may mean watching whatever game happens to be on. TV and entertainment in general all help us to escape the real problem. Everything from political corruption and greed to the fact maybe someones life didn't turn out the way they wanted and since athletes are treated as gods in some ways it it not hard to imagine why soooo many people go ******* crazy when "they" won... Point is people need something to numb their lives so many band together in a celebration of completion to supplement their boring pointless existence instead of going out and doing something, I think WAY to many people just don't have much interesting things to do. Personally if people took all the time that they watch stupid *** games, soap operas, all the stupid mindless bullshit entertainment and did something with their live, maybe even play sports or learn to play an instrument of OMGZZ even read a book, the world would be a much better place.

This ends my rant. Thank you

To understand why people get so carried away with sport you need to understand the human person. There are seven basic things we need to survive as human beings, one of the seven elements of human life is HOPE! A lot of sport crazy people find their Hope in their favorite sporting team. They Hope that they will win and be dominant and in doing so they feel they share the glory of winning. It dosen't really matter wether they win or lose though because you can always hope that they win next time. Others hope to win lotto, or hope win at the races, some hope in God.

Its entertainment, for most, the same as watching a show or movie for someone else. I'm a woman and I like football, its just like somepeople like reality shows, and others don't see what other people see, I don't.
