Strictly speaking oranges are more yellow than orange. The colour orange should be a more or less equal mixture of red and yellow. There are other citrus fruits which are more orange than oranges!

This really depends, they are only orange when ripe but start as a fruit, green. Funny after they have been ripe too long they return to a different shade of green
