Well, if you're looking for yet another reason to slam the US, there's probably no real point in answering this question. Be that as it may, if you look at the statistics, the 3 worst teams were Serbia and Montenegro, Togo, and Costa Rica. These were the only 3 teams to emerge from group play with zero points, and in that order due to goal differential - S&M at -8, Togo at -7, and Costa Rica at -6. Of those 3, Costa Rica probably had the "easiest" group, but that's not exactly scientific. I actually thought this was a pretty even WC - shows that the overall playing field is getting more and more even, which is good. There is no real logical reason to select the US as the worst team in the WC, though apparently plenty of emotional reasons. Though truly in a tough group, I think Cote d'Ivoire underperformed worse than the US. By the way, USA did score a "real" goal against Ghana. If you're to talk smack, at least try to do it about real failings.

No but you did play a good team.
There are a lot of teams that are comparable and depending who has an off day, surprises can happen. You must remember though, the USA does not face the high level of competition to qualify for a World Cup that occurs in Europe.
Better teams than yours did not make the World Cup through tougher qualification groups.

no, I think there are worse teams. But they still will not get out of the group round.

There might be other teams that will get beaten badly but U.S.A was pretty awful today.
