Depends if the popping is painful or not. If it is painful, see a doctor and get a referal to a physical therapist. It could be a number of things, but may just be as simple as crepitus. Very difficult to say more specifically what it could be. Did you injure it in some way?

The shoulder joint is so complex - consider that it is actually made up of 4 separate joints working together as one unit. There could be a problem in one joint (without causing any pain) but is causing poor biomechanics in the remaining joints.

If the popping isn't painful, I wouldn't be too concerned. Joints can pop and crack for numerous reasons.
