it isn't necessarily WHAT clubs you are involved in, it's how passionately you're involved. most places look to see that aside from getting good grades and test scores, there are 1 or 2 extracurriculars that you are really committed to. don't join a club because you think it will look good on your application if you aren't going to be dedicated to it- i could hurt you, and it probably won't help. find something in which you have a genuine interest and do your best to excell at it.
that said, the debate club or community service club is probably a better choice to commit to than the "buffy the vampire slayer" club or the video game club.

The clubs that you care about and are passionate about and contribute to. There isn't some master list out there for which clubs colleges like to see. Just do what you like.

Ones that involve alot of team work, giving back to the community, interaction with people.
Shows you are going to do something with your life.
