Could be cysts , hormone imbalance. If you have recently gone of birth control that could be the problem. Some BC takes several months for your body to get back to normal after stopping.
If it isn't from birth control, I would definitely go see the Dr. and make sure it isn't anything serious.

I had this happen too. Have you taken and birth control in the last year? Especially Depo? I had irregualar (every two weeks or so) periods for about a year. I went to the doc and she said that the only thing I could do was go back on BC, well since I was trying to get preggy that was the last thing I wanted. Instead I looked up some info online and found DHEA, it help stabilize your hormone levels and regulate your periods naturally, it has something to do with the way your body recognizes the hormone especially if you have had a synthetic one in your system for awhile. Regardless you can find it at GNC or Super Supplements, and be sure to take a good multivitamin along with it, I got preggy 3-4 months after I started taking it. Oh but stop taking it when you do concieve as there are no studies done to see if it affects the baby. Good Luck to you.

I would definatley talk to your doctor. If you weren't having your period every 2 weeks until you started trying then something could be triggering that and it could be a problem. Just be completely honest with your doctor and tell him or her and they'll have your problem solved in just a matter of time. Good luck!

My cycles were getting shorter and shorter, my doctor told me not to worry unless they were less than 20 days. It sounds like yours are! See a doctor, this is a symptom of infertility.
