In the system of checks and balances, the executive branch has a check on the legislative because the President has the power to veto bills passed by Congress which then requires a two thirds vote of both houses to override the veto.

The judicial branch has a check on the legislative because the Supreme Court acts on the constitutionally of the laws passed by Congress.

I hope this helps.

The judicial branch checks the legislative branch by disallowing any law that is unconstitutional.
The executive branch checks the legislative branch by being allowed to veto any law that the legislative branch (Congress) sends toward it.

the legislative branch is check simply by the following.

1. they draft and pass laws....then the president(executive Branch) has...

2. The opportunity to veto the laws that they create.

3. finally the judicial branch can rule that the laws that the legislative branch enacted are unconstitional, thus taking away the law that the legislative branch passed.

In addition to the other answers you've already received, I would add the following:

The legislative branch of the US Government, the Congress, is run by a complex set of rules and procedures used to govern the actions of the members. The House maintains their own set of rules, while the Senate maintains another. But the bottom line to both is the value structure of ethics and of governance that provide for a commonality of purpose. Those members found to be in violation of the rules of ethics may be removed from their Congressional seat. In addition, both bodies of Congress may censure a member if that individual is found to be egregiously errant in their personal practice of legislative governance. (As an aside, there is an open debate whether Congressional censorship of a sitting President has any relative function outside of a purely symbolic one.)

Finally, Congress provides oversight to other Federal Agencies, offering broad committee evaluation into the proper administration of governmental policies.

I have offered two links to you that may give you a good start in conducting your own research.

Good luck.
