The very word 'drugs' has been so abused that it is almost meaningless. Our body and our conciousness is nothing more than a series of chemical reactions. Even if we avoid all 'drugs' our body manufactures its own 'drugs'

The legal 'drug' industry plies a vast quantity of drugs on us all the time. We have drugs for depression, drugs for hyperactivity, drugs for weight loss, drugs for just about every possible ailment whether they are real or just percieved.

All drugs have unwanted side-effects, no matter what your reasons for taking them.

The war on 'drugs' is an absolute travesty of Justice. It makes criminals out of honest people and it gives vast wealth to hardened criminals. (if 'drugs' were legal then organized crime would lose a big big paycheck)

There is no necessary connection between violence and drugs. The violence factor comes from characterizing it as a war.

Legalizing drugs is not condoning the use of it. In fact, the onus should never be on 'legalization' anyway, the onus should be on explaining why it is necessary to villify and incarcerate so many people needlessly.

Alcohol is a drug just as much as any other 'drug' is. Its so convenient to pretend otherwise but it is a large farce. And a dangerous one. Alcohol is a very dangerous drug even though it can be argued that it has some beneficial aspects.

Smoking anything is bad for you and its such an arbitrary decision to say that you are allowed to smoke one thing but not another.

If you look into the history of American drug laws, then you would see that it is absolutely full of hypocrisy and racism. Yes racism! Marijuana would probably not be illegal if it wasn't introduced by black jazz musicians. The reason I bring up the American drug laws is that many other countries have been coerced into adopting the same laws.

It wasn't long ago that coca-cola actually used coca. It wasn't long ago that morphine was a common ingredient in cold medications (is codeine really that different?). Heroin was originally invented by a German drug company and was touted as a miracle 'drug' (in the positive sense) when it was introduced.

I'm not saying that evolving away from those kinds of over-the counter medications is a bad thing but it seems so hypocritical to have them in every day circulation at one moment and then send people to jail for long periods of time the next.

If someone breaks their leg, do we put them in jail? We treat heroin addicts like the most severe of criminals when its medical help that they need.

To say that alchol effects people more than pot, is a farse. Both have bad effects when it comes to things like driving.

As a Christian, I see nothing wrong with having a drink now and then. The issue is just like glutteny, to much is sinful. When it is abused and especially used then you go driving, it is very wrong.

Drugs and smoking that are not used for medical reasons destroy the body. The body is to be the temple of Christ and should not be ruined purposly as it states in the scriptures. With this in mind and under those circumstances, they are wrong.

Drugs are in general socially condemned. Alcohol and smoke are "socially accepted" drugs. But they are all destructive in the long run or earlier. Addictive personalities who have no control over their impulses should seek support to avoid these temptations or should be helped to do away with them. Extremes are always harmful. Though a glass of wine every now and then does not kill anybody.

As a matter of practicality, I'd rather see someone smoke pot than drink. Booze usually affects people worse than pot does. Other drugs are just to hard to control in your life, they are destructive to mind and body as well as smoking. It is what these things do to you in the long run. Aging sucks and every little thing ends up counting.

I have no opinion, but I have tears in my eyes. Lamenting on the state of affairs we have come to. where ills of society have reached so fast to innocent children. A man smokes , drinks or drugs out of some frustration or with some maturity to experience. Children are neither mature to experience nor have any frustration. Children have the time to live life of adventure, study, learn skills and not fall to the traps of devils.

Drinking is okay on occasion. Smoking isn't the best for you, and you shouldn't do it. I hate drugs. They are horrible. Not only do they affect you, but they affect everyone around you. My brother overdosed on heroine and died because of it. His girlfriend does it as well, and has not yet overdosed, but there is the reality that she possibly could. She has a 6 month old little boy to take care of. she is the only parent left for that child. see how drugs affect people around you. they ruin your life.

Drink, drugs and rock 'n roll...Woohoo!!! There is a time in our existence - past, present, future - when we must experience the senses - It would be a short but exciting life...(sigh)...I miss that life.

none of them bother me really. as long as i'm not affected by a person using them, then i think it's fine. for example, if joe wants to go out and have a good time one night, then more power to him. but if joe drives his car home and kills one of my friends or family causing grief and loss for me, then it's no longer okay. it isn't our place to restrict someone else's freedom to pursue their own happiness, whatever that may be, just because it may not be the way we would pursue happiness - it's the users body, it's the users decision, not any one elses.
