There are some things thar are definite. The definite in this World Cup is that the United States will lose to Italy after the display they put on against the Czech Republic. I will explain why herein, but first I'll address US chances against Ghana.
Ghana should prove to be a tough matchup for the United States, because they are a fast and physically imposing team. Today, they had a lot of chances against a defensively renowned team, so they should come out firing against the US. However, this may be good for the US counterattack. Whereas the Czechs were clever and tactful in their buildup (making sure they didn't concede many openings as they advanced the balls). The Ghana team, when they push the ball, are likely to be less aware on some spots and spaces, which the US should capitalize on, however, it may be a little too late as the US square off first against Italy. To win against Ghana though the key is the US midfielders, specifically Donovan and Reyna's production in feeding McBride.
With regards to Italy, the US stand almost no chance. They do not really possess a skillfull buildup. They can score mainly against defensively vulnerable teams, which Italy is not. The only chance would be a clever run or something, which usually comes from explosive strikers. That is why Ghana was able to exploit Italy to some degree. If the US play as they did today, they will lose, because they are static, and midfielders against the Italian defense and holding defense is not enough to outdo Italy. And there is where the US relies on for it's success: in Donovan and Reyna. Again, the only option here becomes a Convey type explosion off the bench. He is really the only quality player against Italy, but he has to come off the bench, preferrably at a little past halftime, where Italy starts to blank out a little bit. However, if Italy scores enough by then, the US may not be in contention.
In conclusion, consider a US victory over Ghana. Do not consider US beating Italy out (it's a long shot).

Hell no!!! LOL. They haven't really played well. Italy definitely stepped up their game this time around. I don't think U.S.A can defeat them. Ghana they might be able to. But not Italy. Forza Italia!!!

Can if they do some serious soul-searching in the next 5 days. They've pulled off some miracles before, but this would be akin to the Second Coming.
