all right...how the hell can you say a film is overrated if you haven's saw it. Also...Star Wars is NOT overrated. just check out how many ripoffs have come since. Now the movie that beat it at the '78 oscars is WAY overrated...Annie Hall

You're right it was TITANIC but I also think that a few of the "old classics" really aren't so great.

Casablanca! It is low budget with bad effects. The actors are either wooden or melodramatic. The only thing that was good was the song "As Time Goes By" and they didn't even have that finished when filming began.

This movie just hit America at the right time. People loved it because of the subject matter, not because it was a good piece of cinematography. Way overrated.

I agree with you on Titanic; I'm sorry, I know it was an important incident that occurred in history, but that movie just wasn't what everybody says it was. I know it's considered to be one of the best films ever made, it won awards and honors, etc...but seriously, I think Titanic was definitely overrated. People made it into a bigger deal than it actually was just because of the stars in the movie (mostly Leonardo DiCaprio)...

Citizen Kane, Casablanca, or Gone With The Wind. I could do without any of them.

Didn't even see Titanic. Saw the preview and thought, "the boat sinks, and everybody dies. Where's the story in that?"

English Patient, Jerry Maguire, War of the Worlds (it sucked), The Little Rascals. If you have never seen LOTR then you can not say it was overrated they were the best films ever!! Gone with the Wind is a classic. Wonderful movie.

Yeah, Titanic. Definite.

Gotta agree with you there... slogging through all that melodrama to get to the good stuff.

Gone with the Wind. I've seen it three or four times, and it's all right, but I wouldn't say it's the greatest movie ever. Except for Clark Gable, everyone else comes across as stilted in their acting.

Titanic, I have to agree. It was the biggest pile of crap I have ever watched! You could fall asleep for 1 hour, wake up and find out that still nothing had happened on it !
