I need to find out the song from a film which i think was made in the 80's. All i can remember is pedal bin's moving around slowly in an office block with an electronic song playing which sounds like telephone dial tones! I hope someone knows!

okay no idea about the film but, there is an 80's piece of music that has been used as "incidental" music for lots of stuff (most recently a mobile phone add in the UK)
It has dial tones one following the other interspersed with an engaged signal. It is by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra....Don't know what it's called but hope it's putting you on the right track. I think the album cover had people on it (painted) with penguin heads
