This sounds crazy but it works.
Human urine aged for 14 days minimum and sprayed around the house (outside) will repel mice. (not rats)
The smell goes away rapidly.
Next step is to locate the entry points and place 1/4" screen over them to keep the lil' buggers out.

Glue traps. The mice will get stuck on the sticky pad when they run across it, and there is no poison to harm the dogs - although I would be wary of allowing my dogs to eat wild rodents............check with your vet on that.

get a cat ,just the smell of a cat around is enough for the mice to stay away.
Cats are non toxic and if you get it as a kitten ,it wont kill the dogs ,and the dogs will accept it ,as it grows up.which is quickly

I suggest you get some "Pads" from Lowe's or Home Depot. The mice can't get off of them, but it's totally not poisonous.

Sadly to say, everything you see is made out of a chemical. Have you tried spring mouse-traps?

walmart sales a trap called a........V TRAP its like large close pin made out of plastic has a large red V on it very safe and its clean and easy to set
