I have virus protection, but I ran a free McAffee virus scan, and it found 9 viruses. I have to buy it in order to get those viruses removed. How do I remove the 9 viruses it found without buying their product? Is it enough to delete the file? Is there any free virus protection out there?

◙ The very best virus scanners are free. Mcafee & Norton Antivirus are mostly hype and won't do as good as the free ones.

◙ Download and install AVG. Use it first and see if it finds any viruses or trojans.

◙ After running AVG go here and runn this one online. No need to install it.

◙ Best spyware remover is Ad Aware. Download and instalkl the free version.

The scan you did should have listed the names of the virus's. Any time you do a post asking for help with a Malware infection you need to give the name exactly as listed by the program. No variations. There are many variations of Virus's and sometimes requires the use of two or more programs to remove them.

I recommend you go here and read all this first.

Go here and download the latest version of Java. It is Update 7. Then remove any and all old versions listed in Add/Remove Programs.

http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_ie.jsp

Then go here and run the Scan/Removal program. Allow it to remove everything it finds. Any that cannot be removed, write down the names and information exactly as listed.

If you still have infections, and you probably will, go here and make a post. List the names of the remaining virus's exactly. This will allow for the most accurate advice for removal,.

There are other free virus softwares that you can use to remove them.

You can go to http://www.download.com and use some sharewares or freeware virus cleaners that will detect it and quarantine them.

Or you can totally uninstall Mcafee and use the trial version again and you can use the mcafee software to quarantine it. If you need help with completely removing mcafee so that mcafee thinks you are a new trial user, then just contact me and I can help you out with it.

ok.. if you have the name of these virus' then you will be able to go in through safe mode to delete them manually.

reboot your computer. when the black screen pops up hit F8 to start in safe mode. Do this before windows launches. Then go to: my computer, c drive, program files, then look for the virus files. Right click on them to delete.

while you have them all written down, delete them all.

good luck!!

oh, make sure you restart you computer to get back into normal mode after you have made the changes.
