If you are talking about physically growing, then the answer given before about girls spurt is true in adolescent.
If you are talking world populations numbers, I believe that 2 factors influence the number of women in the world. One is that even though more boy babies are born, science has shown that girl babies are stronger and less likely to die from birth complications and diseases. The second that I can think of is that we lose a great number of men in wars..
