It was completely full, but then some drunk guy down the bar grabbed it when I wasnt looking and drank half of it. So now, after much consternation, I have decided it is half empty, as the inebriated fellow emptied half of the contents of the glass.

A glass is never half empty nor half full. If liquid occupies a portion of it's interior, a gas occupies the remainder of the space. It could be full of liquid and it could be full of a gas.

An optimist will answer half-full...
A pesimist will say half-empty....
A realist will simply say it's half a glass of liquid.

Neither. The current liquid volume contained within the glass is 50% of its capacity.

This isn't my glass. My glass was full. And it was bigger than this glass. Hey, who stole my drink?
