Yes, they have it right 2:1 ratio (PB to Jelly).
Unlike vamedicca, I don't prefer Welch's Jelly (sorry). I'm a Polanar 100% all natural preserves kinda girl....it is awesomely fresh tasting!!!
As for Peanut Butter.......I like it chunky; super chunky. Add the saltiness of the peanuts, the smoothness of the 'butter' and the sweetness of the fruit and that, my friend, is one yummy sandwich. Oh....it must all marry on some fluffy Wonder bread!

Wow an Australian ;O Peanut butter and jelly is a easy sandwich interior the states. :) Peanut butter is made out of peanuts. Jelly is oftentimes fruit in a jar devoid of the seeds. Jam (this is extra useful for you) has seeds and chunks of fruit. Peanut butter and jelly is served on bread. Jelly is unlike jello yet they the two do jiggle :) it is likewise reffered to as PB&J. -had one this morning-

You must spread the peanut butter rather thickly on one piece of bread. It is important that you get two times more peanut butter than the amount of jelly you use. On the second piece of bread.......spread one layer of jelly. It is a sweeter stronger taste. Therefore, do NOT overdo the jelly. It must be an accent.....not the dominating taste. (This is imperative!!! :) ) Then when you join both pieces together in holy mouth watering temptation, they tastes blend perfectly.
And that......is how you make the perfect PB&J. :)

2:1 and yes, it matters. It must be Welch's Grape. Preferrably in the squeeze bottle so I don't have to bother with a knife (lazy). The brand of peanut butter matters, too...Skippy smooth is the only way to go. I love peanut butter and jelly =)

Why would you put jelly in a sandwich? Isn't it a bit too wobbly?
