They won enough games to qualify, and they are ranked #5 in the world. Anyone can have a bad day.

well it was a long road to qualify to the worldcup, after wining the CONCACAF in North America, and passing as the #1 team in the eliminaries. They are a pretty good team, but you have to look very closely into his opponent. The Czech Republic is ranked #2 on the world today, and USA is #5. THe Czech Republic has always been a potential team. I guess i just wasn't their day.
I mean Ecuador beat Poland 2-0,(surprise), anything can happen in the world cup. Portugal barely passed over angola 1-0. Anything can happen.

Like all the other teams, they qualified by winning one of four World Cup final spots in their confederation, CONCACAF (the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football).
The other qualifiers were Mexico, Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago.

Because they are ranked 7th in the world. They were not expected to do well against today's team. The team they play today is one of the picks to win the cup.

They've always done well in qualifications and then fallen apart at the World Cup.
Besides, they didn't have to play agains European teams to qualify, they played against North and Central American and Bahamian teams, which (with the exception of Mexico) do not tend to have the long history and deep tallent pool or eastern teams

I know what you mean. Really terrible. Give the other team some credit, they played well and knew what the weakness of the US was.

Nobody really cares, they could kick them out and we wouldnt have a problem in the US. Soccer is so irrelevent, we would rather watch the Royals play the Marlins than watch Soccer.

they were terrible but it's their real level.... they got into the world cup because in their confederation it is not that they are good it's just everybody else is worse than them.... actually I think CONCACAF is the worst level in the world excluding Mexico that they are in a level similar to CONMEBOL but they will never compare to UEFA's level.... but it's just my opinion

The U.S.A. are ranked 8th and qualified because they were first place in CONCACAF
