True friends don't count this cost, they don't need to, as over time it evens out. Sometimes you will need more, other times your friend will. If you can rely upon each other to be there for each other when you are needed, that is true friendship.
Sometimes there are friends who take more in one way, but give more in another. I have a friend who frequently only wants to talk about herself and her problems, but she has been a good friend to me in other ways, so I am happy to be there for her when she needs me. In a way, helping her by listening and advising does me good too. Sometimes I have to limit the amount of time I spend on this, if things are 'going round in circles', as that can be very draining.
But no relationship is ever an equal balance of give and take at all times.
Hope this helps.

Well, good question..Friends are very unpredictable...we don't try hard most of the time cause we know they understand us and appreciate us the way we are without the extra effort. Which is a common mistake.
Friendship is a relationship like any other, you need to work at it. Like the saying goes "it takes two to Tango". But a lot of people don't think that way.
If our friends are the kind that are there for good times sake..and not if for my times of need, then it tells me something about them and shows me how to be with them.
But if they give as much as they take, then they are worth TRYING for.
And if they were the ones who are there, even if we act selfish and careless.....then they are worth DYING for...cause they are the truest, and most sincere friends.....
Friends are a gift you give yourself....so choose wisely.....good luck

Some friends, I know I can trust them 100 % and I'd do anything for them. Sadly that type of friend is few and far between.
Some "friends" I have, I see how they treat others and I know in my heart they are probably the same with me behind my back.
I think the trick is being able to recognise the true friends from the fair weather ones.

I love my friends because I know that if they didn't like me at all, then they wouldn't associate with me. I sometimes feel like I sacrifice more than they do, but other times I feel like they're doing more for me than I'll ever do for them
Friendship is a give/take situation. If you have good friends, you won't feel like you're always giving and never taking.

yes, i know how u feel. sometimes i feel like the better friend but i feel so sad when i think that they dont do the same things for me, things that i thought normal best friends do. However, there are times when i feel that i couldn't find anyone better. i think we should all just thank god that we have friends whether they want to be one all the time or not.

Friendship is just that...Give and take. But there are times as you say, When you seem to give more than you take. But there are times when you do not realise tht you are taking and not giving. trust me, I know.
