sorry I am with Marianne.
I could answer if it was in relationship to altering the volume of liquids in gravy. That would be when my spoon can stand up in it.

Ans: no.

The specific gravity doesn't change enough for you to have to alter your recipe, unless you're doing very precise chemical experiments. Most recipe amounts are approximates anyway.
