Oh my that is hard I am sure. I am sure that you already know to see a doctor even though all these other people feel the need to remind you so from here on out it is all about support. There is a 25 % chance that the will be born without being infected. Less than most think. The only thing you can really do is too learn all you can about it so that when she has questions or just needs to talk she has someone to go to. This may help start you off and I know someone else did the same so I listed different links for you. Good luck.

No one who gets AIDS does it intentionaly or for the sole purpose of hurting some one. There is no reason for the attitudes of some of the people answering your question. She made a bad choice and she now has to live with it. That is all it is, a bad choice. No one has the right to judge her or refer to her as anything less than a women. She is not dirty, she is worth her life and she may be the best mother the world has ever seen. This choice can only dictate her health and that of her childs....it does not dictate how happy he life can be and how fulfilling being a mother can be. No one worth her time will ever insult her for this. Let her know that.

From what I know, chances are the baby will have HIV as well. Thankfully, there are treatments now available that make life livable for HIV sufferers. Society is also a lot more accepting of AIDS patients as well nowadays. I would highly recommend researching a doctor in your area who specializes in HIV treatment. A good place to start is through your local GLBT community resource center. They can always refer you to a list of doctors with this specialization...and you don't have to be gay to use their services either. But at the end of the day, the best thing you can give your daughter is love, acceptance, and understanding. Good luck!

Well its not 100% that the baby will get HIV but there is a big risk. If you guys are rich there is a medicine. The name I dont remember but Magic Johnson takes it. It costs areound $10,000/ month. It is alot of money.
She probably will have to take meds and get blood transfusions. The virus is deadly and will eventually progress into AIDS.
HIV, in case you didnt know, stands for Human Immuno-deficientcy Virus. It attacks the immune system.
AIDS, which is what HIV progresses into, stands for Aquired Immune Dificientcy Syndrome. AIDS will "hijack" and destroy T-helper cells. T-helper cells call on the B-cells to attack the virus. Unfortunately, AIDS is unnefectd by B-cells.
Most people will die from a disease that your body cant heal due to AIDS. Like Kaposis Sarcoma.
In this day and age luckily AIDS isnt a death sentence anymore. There are ways to deal. It is believed that in the next 20-30 years we will have a cure.
I hope that your god daughter lives till then and dosnt let this virus control her life. I wish her the best of luck. Theres a group calle Friends In Deed and they are like a life support group that helps people cope with viruses like AIDS and Cancer. It would be a good place to go.
In the immortal words of Jonathan Larson "Forget regret of life is yours to miss/no other road, no other way/No day but today"

You had the flu, assuming you had a fever. The sores were fever blisters. You don't develop sores until you've got full blown AIDS. And you don't catch AIDS you catch HIV. If you tested negative, test again in 6 months. In the meantime, keep your dick in your pants. Because even rubbers aren't 100% effective at preventing STD's or pregnancy and if you do, by some fluke, test positive after getting a negative than you don't want to be spreading that sh!t around.

get her to the doctor immediately. if she gets on HIV meds there is a very good chance that the baby can be born without the disease but you must move quickly before it is too late.

Seek out the best drs and dont rule out leaving the country to do it. other countries sometimes try new treatments before the us will approve them and though it can be risky, depending on the stage of the disease it is a risk you may need to take. my heart goes out to you and your family. best of luck
