Argument: Are celebrites getting too much attention from the media?

There's an argument going on in my class and i've been asked to help lead an argument proving or disproving that celebrities get too much attention from the media.
I need peoples opinions on what they think and why?

I think that they get way too much attention from everyone. We are bombarded everyday with these "media attacks" as I like to call them. Way too many people put these celebreties on pedastals like they are gods. I think that this is a reason why so many people in this country suffer from low self-esteem. We are led to believe by the media that this is the standard that we should be living up to. I wish that some of these pampered celebrities really knew what it was like to live on the other side of the fence and have to work for what you want in this world. There are no gift baskets with the latest model of the I-pod over here.

Celebs don't always try to get the attention...they're just celebs! Plus, what else is the media going to write about? You or me? no way! (actually they'll write about me in about 5 years! lol) But people are just interested in other peoples life, the lives they don't live. But you know, i just don't understand how cruel hollywood is! Just if a celeb gains weight its ALL over the news or if they lose some pounds they make a big deal! They're just obsessive over those lives! And i bet most celebs are sick of it!

How are you able to get worn out of Sarah Palin? All the ones image ops with turkeys being slaughtered within the historical past, the white trash tale of her loved ones, Tina Fey! the adorable means she mispronounces "nuclear" similar to George W Bush did. I think they get alot of publicity but is all of it warranted?Maybe not..They strive to become famous and knowingly enter into it with eyes open to the media and their influences on them...They have become willing and able victims for the media due to their career choice..Personal attacks by gossip mag.'s have been challenged in courts and some won some lost..but what do they expect when they invite positive attention in print in the beginning of their careers to become well known?Politicians as well as actors are equally exposed to negative as well as positive press..It is up to the public to decide to believe all they read..Do they get too much attention?Yes..but if no one read it or bought it it wouldnt exist!

celebrity's always get too much attention from the media. the cant do anything that a regular person does because it'll be the first news in the magazine issues, television, and newspaper.

I dont think the problem is completely due to media attention but from the demand public demand for the media attention.

Yes they are. Celebrities who gain a bit of weight and are then shunned take drastic measures to lose the weight. Young girls who see this then develop eating disorders trying to be like the celebs the idolize.

You know its hard to make it these days and to have celebrities thrown up in your face on how much they make, there million dollar houses, cars, etc. just makes me sick.
Don't get me wrong we half to have them for the movies and radio but heck don't do so much bragging....
Some were poor and just made it. But they have forgotten where they came from!

I think that people who buy celeb magazines r buying into it. Feeding the frenzy, so 2 speak. I dont pay much attention to what they do, and I certainly dont let them influence my life eg. buy something because Paris Hilton, the skank, wears it!!

In my opinion yes. To me if they are not making a movie or promoting one, then I do not want to hear about them. I mean, I do not care if so and so gained a couple of pounds or who dumped who. Let them live their lives.
