There are several reasons a woman's period will be irregular. All of which can cause it to come early or late or skip all together.

1.) You could be stressed. Hormones can go crazy when you're stressed. Even if you don't feel like you are. Any changes can cause stress whether you realize it or not.

2.) Youcould have gotten pregnant and had a very early miscarriage. When they come within the first few weeks, they are much like a period. They ahve the same types of pains, cramps, hormone changes, and excretion as menstruation.

3.) If you have been on birth control and are now off. If you have recently gone on birth control. Or if you have changed the type of birth control you use. All of these can cause your period to do unusaul things.

4.) You could have developed HPV (Human Papaloma Virus). It's not serious unless you wait to long to treat it. It is simply viral cells that your body has developed for one reason or another on your cervix. They are the cells that cause Cervical Cancer if they're left to develop. They can only be detected by vaginal exam (pap smear) and can only be taken out by surgery. This is performed same-day. And recovery time is less then 2 weeks. You can be back at work or school the next day though, with linits on liftin, of course.

5.) Sometimes, as you get older, and I don't know how old you are, your body will just decide it wants to change it's schedule. In this case, you jus thave to adapt.

All of these can be determined, diagnosed, and/or treated by your OB/Gyn.

Any lifestyle change can have a great impact on a woman's menstrual cycle. Some of the more common ones are diet, increase/decrease of exercise or activity levels, stress, and any new medications you are taking, OTC or Rx. If you have not made any recent lifestyle changes you should consult with your gynecologist to rule out any problems. Good luck.

Are you on the pill? It's normal to be a little off when you are on the pill, but if it happens a lot than you should see your doctor because the hormone level from your pill is probably not enough or too much.

Sometimes you cycle will change according to stress and other factors, or if you have been hanging out with other girls (your periods will adjust off each other). Very possible. It's normal.

well it depends how long you have had your period... if you have had it for 10 years it shouldn't change that much, but if you have had it for a year its going to change and your going to skip periods often...
