If you have old gas 6 mo. or more, drain out and put in new fuel. If fuel new- pull off bottom of carb and check for steady fuel flow, stream should be a little bigger than a pencil lead. if not good flow, the mower was probably made on a friday. I had a new mower that would run for about 1-minute them just shut off, I also checked everything else.

IF it runs for a few minutes and cuts off, remove the gas cap and see if it helps, it could NOT be venting.

If that doesn't do it, check for spark right after it cuts out (ground the plug to the head and pull the engine over)

Yes! check out all these great answers. But if none of them work it looks like a time to buy a new mower.

If it won't keep running.. sounds like it could be running out of gas... You might want to check to see if the Float is stuck closed.... or partially open..... either float or needle seat...

if none of the above helps check the muffler...it sounds crazy but a bad muffler can affect how mowers run...if that is good might need carburetor rebuilt...both of the above happened to my old one before i retired it and got a self propelled mower

it also has an air/fuel filter...a sponge looking thing...you may need to clean it out or just change it..they are cheap enough and easy to change.
