okay so this question is about the episode where they take a trip to harvard, season 2. in the hallway, lorelei randomly looks at a picture and they zoom in on it...her name was like eileen or kate palmer or something.
WHO IS SHE? what's her significance to the show?

She was looking at the picture of the girl who graduated the year she would have graduated...So she was probably thinking of how her life could have turned out had she not had Rory.
How I figured this out: Lorelai was 32 when the show started, making it so she was born in 1968. 1968 + 22= 1990 (when she would have graduated) and the girl she was looking at in the pic was Valedictorian of 1990.

In tv.com's trivia for the episode The Road Trip To Harvard there is no mention of the significance of this picture. It is merely a picture of an old student at Harvard who achieved something great and had her picture and name plastered upon the walls of the great university for all eternity (or until the wall fills up and they take down the old ones for the new...).

i don't think she was anyboody special. I think Lorelei was just thinking that rory could be there someday. I wondered the same thing before too, and i honesstly don't think the palmer girl had any real signifigance. but maybe she does. I just figured it was just some random picture/name they used.

she was just looking at the past alumnus and imagining her daughters face on a pic in the hallway!

she was a harvard alumni,thats all,she was envisioning rory in that place in her mind i think.
