The U.S. mens team has never won a World Cup. In 1930 they got 3rd place. That's the closest we've been, though. The U.S. womens team won 2 out of 4 World Cups, though. One in 1991 and one in 1999. The other 2 matches the U.S. was third.
Soccer (football) isn't a big sport in the United States. Very few people pay attention to it and it really doesn't matter much when we win or lose. The majority don't even know when the world cup is going on. I didn't until I happened upon a match going on while I was channel surfing.

no. but USA won the Women's World Cup 2 out of 4 times.

3rd was the best result the USA has managed, in 1930. The 2002 Quarterfinal was indeed the next best result.
Interestingly, the USA is on record as having the first ever World Cup victory, over Belgium 3-0, in that same 1930 Cup!

They made the quarterfinals in the 2002 World Cup before losing 1-0 to Germany. That's the best they've ever done.

No they haven't. It'll be a few years before they can make it to that level. Brazil has won it 5 times. I hope Brazil doesn't win it.
