Anything you want, songs are like poetry you write when something comes in mind. You can write about so much, love, sadness, a death your mourning off, a heartbreak, etc.........

writing songs and poetry mostly happens in the moment... for me, I take personal experiences and write about that. Sometimes they come out depressing, other times they're happy songs. It just depends.
