with emotions? Why not: I love you with both my kidneys? Or, you have stolen my liver. Terms of endearment like sweet lungs. The spleen is only used to vent negative emotions. It seems like organ tissue discrimination. What makes the heart so special? Is it because it is the only organ that is a muscle?

LMAO @ sliver of my liver! That's just hilarious...here's what i came up with:
'you're breaking my femur'
'i love you with all my afferent neurons'
'my left testicle will always belong to you'
....but seriously back to your question: the heart is not the only organ that is muscle, your stomach and intestines are muscle too! maybe it is because the heart can carry on beating even when someone dies...I'm thinking brain stem death here. The heart is the only organ that doesn't need the rest of the body to carry on beating: it has its own conducting system so it can contract even when it's taken out of the body and placed in saline solution. Maybe that's what makes the heart so special, that we love with all our hearts.

p.s. but the sliver of your liver rocks

Didn't I make you feel like you were the only man, yeah,
An' didn't I give you nearly everything that a woman possibly can ?
Honey, you know I did!
And each time I tell myself that I, well I've just had enough,
But I'm gonna show you, baby, that a woman can be tough.

I said come on, come on, come on, come on and take it,
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby,
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah.
Hey! Have another little piece of my heart now, baby, yeah.
You know you got it if it makes you feel good,
Oh yes indeed.
All right!

When I was in high school, my friend and I used to say "I love you from the bottom of my cerebral cortex". We always wondered why the heart represented love, when all of your emotions come from your brain.

That's very true; think about why we wear wedding rings on our 4th finger- because the vein from that finger connects to our heart.
