ebay.com to sell it that is. And to get some good ideas about how much that type of thing would go for.

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. But how much that equals is hard to estimate.

It's not an antique. I assume your grandfather isn't famous (if he's Paul Newman - that adds to the value.)

Is it made of some rare wood or is there something else unique about it?

If it's a beautiful horse that was lovingly carved by a proud grandfather - the sentimental value is more than you'd ever get for it anyway. Hang on to it for future generations. In the meantime get your grandfather to tell you a little bit about how he made it. Type that onto a card with his name, the date he made it and the name of the boy he made it for. Attach that to the horse somewhere so future generations won't lose track of where it came from.

Check out your phonebook for companies that appraise stuff like that because chances are your not going to get on the T.V. show for appraising things.
It will probably cost some money though to get it appraised.

Ebay would be a good start for you. Then try in your local phone book for local antique dealers. They could help to direct you where you can go.

I would call someone in the business of hand carving wood. I would hope he is not planning to sell it or anything:)
