Contractions. Like Braxton-Hicks, but painful. Very close together. They started on Sunday afternoon. I was scheduled to be induced the next afternoon anyway, so I waited them out. Eventually they slowed down and became more sporadic, so I went on the rest of that night as normal. The next day when I wen to the hospital to be induced, I was 3 cm dilated, so I guess the contractions were working! Since I was already that far along, they didn't actually induce me (with drugs) thank god...they just broke my water. 5 hours and one epidural later, I had a beautiful baby boy!
If you're wondering what a real contraction feels like...don't worry, you'll know. If you're like I was with my first baby, you're probably sick to death of hearing that...wondering, "HOW will I know?" Labor pains are different for every woman, depending on her tolerance for pain, but trust me...you WILL know.
Also, some other labor symptoms are your baby dropping (suddenly you're able to breathe again and the baby is resting much lower in your abdomen) although this can happen a few weeks before you give birth, so it's not a real sign, I guess. Your water could break. I think your big cue that your labor is beginning will be painful contractions.

I kept getting pains at the bottom of stomach (tightness and cramping) and I also had to pee literally every 5 minutes.... after a full night of this I started to notice a little tiny trace of blood....then that day I went to see the doctor for her opinion...and she said I was only 2 cm dilated and to go home....but when she asked me if I had been feeling the baby move I said No..( I was in too much pain to eve noitcie) so I went to my hospital and they did a sono..and then they said I had a choice of going home and resting until my contractions became 5 mins apart OR just stay there....I chose to go home and I ended up in the hospital again in about 5 hours! The baby came 18 hours later!

I take it that is your first youngster? consider me, you are going to recognise while you're in labour, pains most likely begin as like a interval soreness and construct up and up, as soon as they're insufferable or coming each little while then I endorse you ring thehospital. However oftentimes your waters can pass and you can also no longer begin contracting instantly, if this occurs you must touch your midwife/health center as leaving the youngster and not using a waters can reason illness after 36/forty eight hours. With my first daughter five years in the past I felt very bizarre the day earlier than, no longer really certain easy methods to describe it, like very very worn out and I would consider she had moved down, at 8pm two/12/2003 I abruptly acquired a cramp and I simply knew this used to be it, she used to be born 10 hours later while my second daughter got here alot faster in simply 45minutes! I used to be at my mums and have been having a couple of pains however not anything unbearably, abruptly felt very unwell, went to bathroom toilet in which I had a bloody exhibit and abruptly that used to be it,soreness kicked in tremandously! My mum drove me directly to health center and I climbed at the mattress, midwife tested me,broke my waters and my youngster used to be correct there! simply three pushes and he or she used to be out!! Any different questions?lol!! claire xx

When I went into labor with my son I just kept having these crippling back pains and it almost felt like I had to use the bathroom. That happened the day before I went into labor. 2 years later when I was pregnant with my daughter the same thing happened, over 2 days my back felt like it got so tight. I couldn't walk or do anything it was bad.

Everyone is different, all pregnancies are different. With my son, I did not know I was in labor until late that evening. I had cramps all day long, not to bad, but I had bad cramps in my stomach. That evening, the cramps were coming real fast and they hurt alot more. With my daughter, I had no signs of labor, my water broke with her when I got out of the shower! That is how I knew I was getting ready to have her!!!!

My water broke but I wasn't having any contractions. I was given pictocin (i think that is how you spell it) to start my contractions when i got to the hospital. I did, however, have Braxton Hicks toward the end of my pregnancy....if you are not sure if you are experiencing genuine contraction of just BH, Fill you bath tub up as warm as you can stand it....if the contractions stop, they are just BH. The warm water relaxes the muscles in your stomach.

I had mild cramping the day of, and when I called my midwife, she said to stay home since it was my first one. When my water broke that night, at first I thought I had peed myself! LMAO. I didn't start having contractions until about five hours later, and four hours after that was given pitocin because I wasn't dialating. From water breaking to delivery was 13 hours.

I kept having to get out of bed to go pee every 15 mins, then 9 mins, then 6 mins, then 3 mins. The contractions didn't feel like cramps at first it just felt like I had to pee really bad.
