I've got firefox on......I'm trying to set up the email with thunderbird. I'm at the part you have to choose POP or IMAP......I don't know. how do I find my incoming server type. And pretty much all the info they ask for after that....lol.
I know this is a multiple question I'm doing here, but i'm really about to throw my pc across the room.
Is it wanting my yahoo email address? Also, I share this pc without password protection....next question....will the thunderbird acct. be password protected if i give over all my yahoo info?

I see what you all mean about the yahoo deal, I did make it that far.

I thought I knew something about some things....wow, I'm sooo confused as to all these things it wants me do.

You cant use pop and smtp for yahoo. Its a paid service for that option.

If its gmail, it would be pop.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com.

Pop is the incoming server, smtp is the outgoing server.

You can also do it for hotmail, but yahoo its a paid service to get that setup and working. If you need further help step by step, then just contact me and I can try to help you.

Your yahoo account wont transfer over to thunderbird unless you buy a premium account. Yahoo is a jerk like that. Otherwise, you'll be using a POP3 and a quick email sent to your ISP should give you all the information you need to know.

More likely than not you will use POP3. Check with your ISP regarding the setup...your Incoming and Outgoing will look something like: mail.myisp.com
