Hi,
I recommend a book called 'The Artist's Way' by Julia Cameron. It is a small course in opening up your creativity, it really helped me get past my 'inner censor' and I'm now on to my 3rd novel! :)!
You can order it through Amazon for a decent price.

We have a creative anarchy as it were; confusion, disorder,
an incubation of ideas where we can draw from our experiences or the experiences of others, collective episodes of way from humor or tragic ways which life lays in front of us.
Creativity is not something to improve upon but rather to discover and release in artistic forms; creativity is within our essence, you just have to wait for the signal to show you what it is you need to express, the evolution of ideas brews within our hearts & minds. Creativity is within your own feelings, one needs to improve in the tools which they chose to use for expressions, but the creative act needs no improvement, only discovery.
gOOd luck !!

Read, read, and read some more. The more you know the more places you can draw from. Another way is to immerse yourself in the different arts (writing, painting, drawing, music, etc), each will round out your creativity giving you more dimension.
