When we got married I went first, but we got to choose who went first, and we weren't married under any religion.

I think traditionally the husband goes first. At least every wedding I have ever been to the man has given his vow first. In Christain marriages it signifies his leadership (not 'dominance' or control), since according to Biblical standards the man is supposed to lead his home. By going first the man shows that he is willing to lead his new wife and family.

Traditionally, it is the husband that goes first, then the wife.........at least that's what we did but it has been numerous years now. Any weddings we've gone to though for family weddings, well it has been the same as what we did come to think of it. I would ask the Pastor, Priest, Reverend,Rabbi, whomever is marrying you if there is a set protocol. They'll let you know!!! : )Good luck! Congrats!

Well you could decided either way. Its your wedding so do it the way you feel comfortable with. But if had to choose I would say the male. Atleast I've always seen the male read vowels first.

Hmmmmm, not sure there is a hard & fast rule on that one. But when I got married, I went first and then my husband.
