Um... well, this isn't really a question... but I'll go ahead and post an answer... I like getting points!
I totally agree... people want to show their committment to the person they love, and I don't think it's fair to tell people who they can and cannot marry. And if this brings up the argument that we'll start marrying animals, that's stupid... I suppose some people out there really want to marry goats, but for the most part, we are all searching for another human as a lifelong companion, and I think we should be allowed to be married if we so choose.

Ok, listen up, because I"m only going to say this once. marriage did not become an issue that the church was concerned with until the 1500s. Before that marriage was an arrangement for land and financial gain. AND, as soon as divorce became an option, marriage switched from being a financial partnership to being out of love. and as soon as that happened straight people lost their leg to stand on. As long as atheists are permitted to marry, so too may all those who live a non typically christian life. So f*ck off you conservative f*cks.

Why the hell should we listen to people as dysfunctional as gay people? Why are you so surprised that your spurious arguments fall on deaf ears?
If you want to be married, then go find yourself a nice, decent young man and settle down. When enough of you do that as opposed to living your lives like freaks, people will take the gay marriage issue seriously. Until then, the answer is no. And not all the bellyaching in the world will change that.

Actually this very thing could happen if the gay marriage ban ever went into effect. Courts would be forced to decide if it is OK to grant special right to one class of people and withhold them from another.
Some courts may rule that no one may benefit from marriage.

Homosexuality goes against nature. Do you realize that Humans are like one of a few species out of millions that engage in homosexuality? Man and woman are made to be together. Marriage was instituted by religion. Marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Those who believe in God know that homosexuality is not what God had in mind. If you want to be together with a same sex partner, sign a piece of government paper notifying the "civil union" of you and your partner. Don't call it marriage.

Thats what the US is supposed to be about: being free to live the way you want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone, and thats all they're trying to do. How does their marrying challenge a straight marriage? What, are they afraid that they'll turn out to be gay?

Yeah, the whole gay marriage thing was brought back up to get some points back in Bush's approval rating. Personally, I don't care if a person gets married to a goat, or whatever tickles their fancy.

I think all people who love each other should be able to marry under the laws of the land (because they can marry now, just it's not in the law in many places.) It doesn't matter if you are straight, gay, lesbian, or bisexual because love is love. I will always fight for true love. God bless.

I think all marriage should be banned and they should just have civil unions for all.If you want to get married in a church then that is fine but you shouldn't get any state or federal benefits from it or get any special treatment. The only unions that should be valid and legal should be civil unions that should be opned to all adults that are not related and are of sound mind regardless of their sexuality. That would end the whole problem.

If people believe in the sanity of marriage; why aren't straight people treating it like such. What's up with the cheating affairs; and not honoring the vows. What's up with children not been raised by both parents? How can people dictate policy and not uphold their own vows?
