The word responsibility means the obligation to answer for one's actions. Often this means answering to authority. Responsibility is also loosely used as the recognition that in order to achieve one's purposes, one must act oneself ("take responsibility") rather than expecting others to do something (compare initiative).

An obligation can be legal or moral. There are also obligations in other normative contexts, such as obligations of etiquette, social obligations, and possibly the "obligation" to spell words correctly.

One has an internal reference and the other one an external reference. Someone who ignores a responsibility is doing something morally wrong, which has spiritual consequences. Someone who ignores and obligation is doing something socially wrong and that usually results in punishment.

responsibility is something that is asked of you or forced on you by another...obligation is something that you feel yourself. grandma asking to move in with you because she's getting older would be a responsibility. you asking grandma to move in with you cause she's getting older is an obligation.

Obligation is something you HAVE to do.
Responsability is to face your choices, example: when you choose to go to school, you have to face the facts that there will be homework and all.. if you get home late: face the fact that you maybe grounded.
