I went to the beach today.. and when I got back I took a shower and a nap. When I woke up I noticed that my back was all red and dark... with noticeable sun lines... is it just a tan or is it a burn? I got an after sun lotion from the pharmacy that's supposed to help with the over exposure to sun. How long will my back stay red? What else can I do to relieve the symptoms?
My skin is usually light brown, Middle Eastern desent.

I just had the same problem. Make sure you use lotion with no perfumes or alchohol. The best thing i found was Pure COCO butter. look for it in a health food kinda store. It soothed the burn really nicely. just keep it moistureized and take cool showers cuz hot water is going to hurt. It should turn into a nice tan in about 3 to 4 days. Take care and i hope this helps.

Fade Sunburn

That depends on the severity of the burn. If you have a really bad burn, it will blister and peel off. If it's just a light burn, it will fade and turn brown within two days. But next time, try using lotion BEFORE you go out in the sun!

It all depends on how bad the sunburn is. If it is sever it might take 2-3 weeks to fade, if it just a littlt sunburn(minor sunburn), it will take about a week. Apple aloe vera lotions, or oils, to help lessen the swelling/redness/inflamation. It works great, and give a cool fresh feeling!!

it could be both burn and tan.go to the store and but a gel made out of aloe Vera and put it on every night before you go to sleep. Another way to get rid of sunburn is to put vinegar on yourself use towels to wipe of the vinegar after you leave it on for about 10-20 minutes. if you do one of these treatments then it should take as short as one week or as long as two weeks.
(you can buy the aloe vera gel at wallgreens)

Well, for a normal sunburn, about 2 to 3 days...for a really severe, peeling one, about 2-3 weeks. Don't worry, it will fade!

even though you are middle eastern and should tan fairly easy u still can burn. you probably overdid it with the sun. you will probably be sore for a couple of days and peel after that good luck and next time use sun screen. later in life you will appeciate the fact that you have little or no wrinkles because you limited your exposure to the sun.

Does it hurt to the touch? Someone once told me that if you take a bath with white vinegar in the water that it will fade faster and also help with the pain. I have tried it and it does work. Good luck.

I know this sounds weird, but soak in vinegar water(1 cup of vinegar) Water should be warm not hot. Soak for 30 minutes . It's a home remedy.
